Flash! Owens Creek's Fall 2011 Harvest Blends Available Now!

Owens Creek's Fall 2011 harvest "Quartetto Classico" and "Quartetto Viola" Blends have now been granted certification by the California Olive Oil Council. They are available now! Our freshly milled olive oil had already been certified as "Extra Virgin" via chemical testing and, with the blessings of the COOC, is ready for purchase by all of you lovers of super fresh olive oil. It doesn't get any better than this: we feel that the taste profile of this year's Sicilian blend is the best we have ever produced. The fruitiness and pungency of this blend is high and you may cough more than once after you taste it—this is a good thing! So don't wait, get it while it is extremely fresh and literally bursting with flavor. This is what California olive oil is all about. Note: Our recent price reductions remain in effect for 2012.

OWENS CREEK'S FLAVORFUL "QUARTETTO VIOLA" SICILIAN BLEND: A GOLD MEDAL WINNER (AGAIN!)

The California Olive Oil Council has for the second consecutive year awarded Owens Creek Company's Fall 2010 "Quartetto Viola" Sicilian Blend a GOLD MEDAL for quality at the 7th Annual Recognition Dinner held on March 5th, 2011 in Monterey, CA. The award is based on the results of sensory tests by their trained and highly qualified Official COOC taste panelists. COOC sensory tests are "blind tests" conducted with strict rules to guard the panelists from any hints about the origin of the oil they are tasting. The detection of ANY mild taste defects or out-of-balance flavor profiles will disqualify an oil from receiving a COOC Gold or Silver award. Owens Creek recently had the pleasure of receiving a compliment from a widely travelled olive oil professional who stated that Owens Creek's Quartetto Viola Sicilian Blend was the ONLY California olive oil that she had ever tasted that actually met or exceeded the flavor of the best domestic oils she had sampled during her extensive travels throughout Mediterranean regions of the world: high praise from a very seasoned olive oil professional. We urge you to try our Sicilian Blend!

Setting the Gold Standard for Olive Oil

The 2010 Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition presents a Gold Medal Award to Owens Creek Company for their Quartetto Classico Tuscan Blend! In addition, a Silver Medal Award was presented for Owens Creek's Quartetto Viola Sicilian Blend.

LA Awards

The L. A. International olive oil competition celebrates its 11th anniversary in 2010. Back in 2000, wine competition organizers were looking for a way to expand the competition. The marriage of extra virgin olive oil and wine was natural. Both require a distinguished palate, both have distinctive varietals, both are important to serving the perfect meal. At its inception in 2002, the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition enlisted an impressive list of judges to taste the finest domestic and International extra virgin olive oils. For seven decades the Los Angeles International Wine Competition has bestowed gold medals to the best wines from around the globe. Sixty years later, the addition of the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition was a perfect fit. The competition was eventually opened to international oils, with oils coming from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina and France. Award-winning entries will be displayed at the 88th anniversary of the L.A. County Fair, September 4 – October 3, 2010. The Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits and Extra Virgin Olive Oil competitions are committed to educating the public about wine, spirits and extra virgin olive oil, featuring industry experts with extensive knowledge about selection, tasting and food pairings.
